Patrick Cane’s father committed suicide when he was six years old by jumping in front of a moving vehicle. Now, twelve years later, he has just been elected student body president of his private high school. His best friend, Henry, is his vice president and he is thrilled. He quickly learns, however, that running the student council isn’t as great as he hoped because nobody else takes it seriously and his mother isn’t very supportive.
All hell breaks loose when he finds out at a party that he only won because Henry paid everyone to vote for him. Furious, Patrick posts a controversial snapchat at the party and Henry subsequently impeaches him from student council behind his back. His best friend, his mother, and everyone he knows has turned against him and it’s entirely his own fault.
In his rage, Patrick physically strikes Henry in the middle of class and instantly regrets it. He feels too ashamed to be around and does everyone a favor by running away. The cops are looking for him and he must take extreme measures if he doesn’t want to be found. He abandons his car, dyes his hair, changes his clothes, and creates a new identity. Will he suffer the same fate his father did? $2.99 on Kindle.
