Barely 20 years old, the main protagonist Jimmy, an indigenous Canadian raised in a remote Québec village, gets a lucky break and lands a management job with an event-planning agency in New York City. It is the early 1980s, and life in the Big Apple beats to the still carefree rhythm of sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll.
The job procures Jimmy easy access to lavish parties, drugs, women and men, making him an instant convert to a lifestyle of pleasure and indulgence. As he moves onward to Montréal, Los Angeles and Tokyo, his hedonistic pursuits descend ever further into debauchery and reach an all-time low when he loses Akemi, the love of his life.
The blow sends him spiraling out of control. While his love for Akemi remains unshaken, he also feels responsible for her death. Nevertheless, he is unwilling to compromise his lifestyle. Jimmy appears resigned to the prospect that he can find solace and peace only in death. Or can there be redemption? $0.99 on Kindle.
