Is your Kindle book gone? eBooks sometimes disappear from ereaders. It happens! If you find that a Kindle book you thought was on your Kindle device no longer appears, then you can stop the panic and find it with these tips.
Here are five options to help you locate your lost Kindle book:
- Check your Library: From your Kindle home screen on your device or app, access your Library and browse to see if you can find the missing book. If you can’t find the book in your library, try the other options below. You can also view your library online here: https://www.amazon.com/your-books/
- Sync your device: Sometimes, you might buy a new book, and the latest addition to your library hasn’t yet synced to your other Kindle devices. So you might need to sync your library so that it appears on all your devices and Kindle apps. After confirming you have an internet connection, select sync on your device to update your Library. You should see your book from there.
- Search for the book: We often have so many books on our Kindle that it becomes hard to sort and find a specific book in your extensive library. If you remember the e-book’s title, you can search for it using the search function. You can also search by the book’s author if that is what is fresh in your memory.
- Find the book on your laptop. If your Kindle devices are still not registering the book you are looking for, it might be time to use a desktop computer and log into your Amazon account. Once you are logged in:
- Log into Amazon.com
- Go to Content and Devices here https://www.amazon.com/hz/mycd/digital-console/contentlist/allcontent/dateDsc
- Select Books
- Search for the missing book
- When you find it select Deliver or Remove from Device
- Select the device you want to send it to
- Open your Kindle device or app and find the book
If none of the four options above work, you might be panicking because the issue might be with your purchase of the book. It might be that you never actually bought the book. So the next thing to do is…
- Check your Orders: It’s better to perform the following on your desktop computer. Log into your Amazon account and view your purchase history to see if you will see the missing Amazon Kindle book on the list. If it’s on the list, you can retry the four options above again because that will resolve the visibility issue.
If you try option five and get a positive result, meaning the book appears in your purchase history, but it’s not appearing in your Kindle library, then it’s time to contact customer support to let them know about your missing book.
It’s always important to confirm that any newly purchased book appears in your library immediately after purchase. That way, you will have all the details at hand in case you need to contact customer support about a purchased e-book that simply does not appear in your library.
