This article will explain how to navigate, jump or move to a specific page or spot in a book you are reading on Kindle.
Kindle Page Numbers vs Location Numbers
Kindle books display location numbers by default instead of page numbers. The reason for this is that Kindle page numbers can vary by different screen and font sizes, while Kindle location numbers are consistent no matter what type of device or font settings you are using. If you want to switch from location numbers to page numbers, see: How to View Page Numbers on Your Kindle. But note that some Kindle books do not support page numbers.
Jump to a page or location on a Kindle
Here’s how you can move to or navigate to a page number or location while reading on a Kindle eReader:
- Open the book on your Kindle
- Tap the top of the screen
- Select the icon that looks like three stacked lines, to the right of the “Aa” icon.
- Choose from these options:
- Go to Page or Location: You’ll need to enter a page number or location number.
- Beginning: Brings you back to page one of your book.
- Chapter or Section in the Table of Contents: Brings you to the beginning of a chapter or book section.
Jump to a Kindle book page or location on Fire tablets
Here’s how you can skip ahead in a Kindle book or navigate to a page location when reading on a Kindle Fire.
- Open the book on your Kindle
- Tap the center of the screen
- Select Go to
- Choose from these options:
- Go to Page or Location: You’ll need to enter a page or location number.
- Sync to Furthest Page Read: Brings you to the furthest page you’ve read, even if you read it on another device.
- Beginning: Brings you back to page one of your book.
- Chapter or Section in the Table of Contents: Brings you to the beginning of a chapter or book section.
