Once, I saw a painting on the wall,
a pink horse with a horn, standing tall.
I asked mom: “What’s that by the pretty bow”
Mom said, “A unicorn? I don’t really know”.
I wanted one too, and asked if I might,
get one for my room, and mom said “alright”.
I sat down, elated, I drew, and I painted,
I gave it to mom and waited.
“That’s wonderful”, mom said with a smile.
But then said, after thinking a while:
“Yes, it has wings, and a horn as well,
but the ears just aren’t right, I can tell.
It’s pretty close, but not quite a unicorn,
it’s more of a”…
